Abstract
This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of controlled-release fertilizer for onion cultivation in alpine area. In soil chemical properties after harvest, pH and EC were increased in all the experimental plots. Controlled-release fertilizer treatment slightly increased shoot length, fresh weight and bulb weight in alpine area. Also, total marketable bulb yield was higher in controlled release fertilizer plot than in the other fertilizer treatments. Rate of weight loss, decaying loss, sprouting and commodity loss decreased in controlled-release fertilizer at ambient storage. Therefore, application of controlled-release fertilizer increased commercial yield, storage ability after harvest and also reduced labor needs for additional dressing.
